I need to go from Shanghai Airport to Suzhou on Thursday night. What is the best way to get there?
And how long does it take approximately?
Thank you for your help! |

There might actually be a direct bus from the airport to Suzhou - ask at the tourist information desk. If not, the quickest way would be to get a bus/taxi (only take the official ones!) over to Shanghai Train Station, then there are trains roughly every hour going through Suzhou - soft seater is Y22 (or thereabouts) and the journey can take anything form 45mins to 1h30 depending on the type of train.there is also a Maglev train from PuDong into town (not sure where it ends up though) that whisks you along at over 400 km/h!
Hope that helps

I am 90% sure there is a direct bus from the airport, but the last bus probably leaves at 8pm. It is sort of hard to find, as it is not where the shanghai train station/bund/etc buses are- you ahve to go upstairs, downstairs, then upstairs again-- just ask a uniformed staff. Other people will of course tell you there is no bus in order to rip you off.
I think the mag lev stops at 5pm and goes no where of interest.. yet... to save you that much time. |

As a side point: if your final destination is Suzhou and you are coming from Beijing or somewhere like that: then consider the train. You can get a comfortable sleeper for about the same price as a discount plane ticket, you won't have to spend 2 hours on a bus after the flight and you will save 1 night in a hotel. |
