Hi,
I am visiting Urumqi and China for the first time. I would like to have information about Urumqi.
I am a vegetarian and am woundering if I can get vegetarian food in Urumqi. I would be good to get other practical tips regarding staying in China.

When will you be in Urumqi?
Aug and Sep are the best season for melons and fruits.
Urumqi is also a good place for shopping ethnic handicrafts. Visting Er Dao Qiao Market and International Grand Bazaar in the city commercial center will definitely bring you an different and memorable experience.
Urumqi is a city with various nationalities,Hans, Uighurs,Kazakhs, Russians, Uzbeks, etc. so the cuisine can be distinct from other cities of China. I'm not sure if there are some vegeterian restaurants in Urumqi, but I'm sure that you may find vegeterian dishes in almost every restaurant in Urumqi. The most popular gourmet street is May the First Night Market (Wu Yi Xing Guang Ye Shi) which is in downtown area. Many good restaurants scatter on Yan'an road and Hongqi road.
