Macau - HK more question on touring |
At the risk of sounding ignorant (OK, I am), I just wanted to check that I won't need a Chinese visa to take the ferry from Macau - Hong Kong? As it takes all of an hour, I would assume not, but if there's one thing I've learnt, it's never assume! I'm a UK passport holder so obviously don't need visas for Macau or HK. Thanks! |

You are correct. You do not need a Chinese visa to visit Macau or Hong Kong. Even though they are part of the Motherland now, they still mantain independent passport controls. Chinese citizens need visas to visit these places themselves, fairly easy to obtain if they live in a border town, but harder to get if they live far from the border or want to do independant travel there. |
