travel to Hong Kong on National day (october 1st) |
|
|
Hello,
can anybody tell me what Hong Kong will be like on National day, october 1st.
I booked a stop over in HK but wasn't aware of October 1st being the national day of the PRC ( I used an 'old' SE-Asia shoestring).
So my question is what to expect? will shops and places of interest be open or closed? will it be very crowded etc? Anything I shoud definately do or see on that day?
thanks.... |

It's a holiday with banks and offices closed, but all shops will be open as usual and it will be as busy as usual.
Sometimes there are extra tourists from the mainland in Hong Kong as well at that time.
Perhaps you can join a demonstration calling for more democracy on that day- there's sure to be one.
After joining the demonstration, enjoy the fireworks display at night. |
