the best located hotel for tourists in Suzhou? |

I need some advice about where and which are the best hotels for tourists visiting the cities of :Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, Hangzhou ,and Suzhou.
I am looking for comfortable hotels but not 5 stars .
Any recomendation about Hanzhou and Suzhou is welcome too. |

My family and I just returned from China. We stayed at the Prime Hotel in Beijing (very good), the Rui Jin Guesthouse in Shanghai (see my review), the Sheraton in Suzhou (excellent) and the Holiday Inn in Hangzhou (very good). They are either 4 or 5 star hotels and situated in good locations, with comfortable furnishings but not overly luxurious. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask as we just got back yesterday. It is hot, muggy and rainy along the coast. We had a great time and didn't want to leave. |

Took the train both times, soft seat (1st class). To Suzhou, takes 1 hour, to Hangzhou takes 2 hours. I arranged things through an agency so we had guides take us to and from the stations. Train station in Shanghai is pretty crowded, so just watch your bags. Best to travel as light as possible. We used Shanghai as our base, took 1 and 2 day trips to outside cities, so left most of our luggage at hotel in Shanghai. |
