I am currently in kiev, travelling with a Canadian passport and a month visa for Ukraine. I have a visa in my passport for Russia. I am planning to take the tran-Siberian from Moscow to Beijing, in one month.

I went to the Chinese embassy here, and was told that could not get a visa to China as I do not have a Ukrainian residence, or work permit. In fact, I was told I had to go back to Canada!

I am thinking to go to a nearby country (Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia) to get my visa. These countries are favorable for me because I can enter them with visa free as a Canadian.

Does anyone have experience getting a visa in any of these countries? is it possible? I would like to avoid having the same problem as here.

Most of the the orginizations for visa are only handle the problems for local people so your problem just belongs to this kind of circumstance ,so you should contact with the Chinese embassidor in Canada, if they garuantee you can get the Chinese visa in Ukraine.
