Two possibilities. As the previous person mentioned, the most upmarket area is Lan Kwai Fong (the correct spelling!)in Central. The drinks and food are outlandishly expensive and there can be a certain pretentiousness there but if having a corona with finance executives and office "cuties" presses your buttons then go for it. The alternative is a place called Wanchai....the restaurants range from upmarket eateries of all types to small snackbars and noodle houses. The bars range from "girlie" bars, (where the girls looking at your pants are not checking the size of your member...ship card but the size of your wallet!)to fairly wild upmarket "normal" bars (try Joe Bananas also known as the "Groin Exchange" on Jaffe Road). Rather shifty looking Western men, whose wives are out of town, also like to try Neptune Bar (opposite Joe Bananas). If you don't "score" there I suggest you give up and join a monastery! There are quite a number of hookers working the bar so be very careful buying drinks and beware of the type of relationship you are getting in to. My personal favourite, being a boring old fuddy duddy, with a love of wine, wit, and intelligent conversation is the bar in Dan Ryans in Pacific Place. I invariably make friends with someone there. Anyway, I wish you well in your quest. Good luck! |
