I'm considering to cross the Kunjerab pass on the Karakorum highway around June . Now the last big constraint is the possible snow cover and pass closure.
Everybody knows some reliable sources where to enquire about the few years, when the pass was repopened and what exactly are the criteria?
Some help would be great, thanks. |

I know the road is open between july and November , we went in August so we never had to look up if is really true.

Last year the pass was closed by the political authorities until July due to the SARS epidemic in China, but it ususally opens between late April and Early July There wasnt much snow this year so and judging by the fact that the lower passes opened up in late April this year, yeah the Khunjerab should be open by April Otherwise you can fly to Urumqi from Islamabad. |
