I will be coming to China at the end of August. Flying into Shanghai and taking the train to Beijing the same day. I hope to spend a few days in Shanghai on the return trip.
I will arrive at the airport(PVG) in Shanghai around 2:00p.m. and be taking a train north at around 7:00p.m.
Actually I have some questions.
The best way to get from the airport to the train station?
Is there somewhere to keep my bags until the train leaves?
& Is there anything interesting to do in that area while I wait for the train?

While you arrived at Shanghai Pudong airport , Take airport shuttle no.5 for 18 RMB/pax, to Shanghai main train station -- this is the final terminus so there's no need to worry about getting off at the wrong place.

There're a number of left-luggage places around the station. you can ask from information desk .

Nothing of real interest in that area, and it's not a particularly attractive area either.

I'm afraid that you might have problems getting train tickets on the day itself, if you're hoping to take soft sleepers.

Train tickets go on sale 10 days in advance; and I'm sure there would be plenty of human traffic on this route (and on any of the popular routes in China) due to everyone travelling around after the Olympics, for sightseeing and other reasons.
