Be aware that extending a visa while in China is canceling your old visa and giving you a new visa. I did it in Zhongdian, June 2006 and took only a few days. I understand it takes longer in the big cities like Shanghai and Beijing but things may be different now.
The thing about canceling your old visa is, you lose any remaining entries on the original visa if it is a double or multiple entry visa.
Don't forget, leaving Mainland China to go to Hong Kong or Macau is considered leaving China. You will need a second entry on your visa or a new visa which you can get in HK.
BTW
I asked for a 60 day entry visa for my 2007 trip and they gave me a 90 entry visa. I got it in NY. |
