Train from Hong Kong to Beijing |
|
|
Hello,
I'm planing to travel by train from HK to Beijing in February. But I'm having difficulty finding out about trains, i.e. how difficult it is to book in advance and whether there are trains you can get on and off to visit places along the way. Also, has anyone got any tips of a good route to take and things that are worth seeing along the way?
Cheers! |

If you want to see places along the way, you'll have to buy tickets for each leg, you can't hop-on-hop-off on the Hong Kong -- Beijing ticket.
If you want sightseeing recommendations it would be wise to indicate your sightseeing interests/preferences, how much time you have and when exactly you would be travelling. February is generally a bad month as this is the Spring Festival period.

Yes, it is right, Chinese New Year is Feb. 7 this year, so anytime between Feb 1 and the 15th is not a good time to travel in China by train. It will be jam packed. You can book in advance at any train station, would advice soft sleepers for safety reasons. |

After 15/2 students (and some workers who have longer holidays) will still be returning to school, so actually all of February ain't a good idea!
