hi all,

I'm planning to travel by train and bus within China from early Feb to late-February 2008, moving between locations every 1-3 days. Do people think this will be feasible given the CNY transport crush, and if so any advice?
(CNY = Feb7)

I'll be starting in either Yunnan or Guangxi and working my way up the coast to Beijing. I was planning to detour inland through Jiangxi/Anhui, but I don't know if the situation there will be worse, especially since I might need irregular transport (e.g. motorbike taxis) to get to attractions.
I know train tickets only become available 5-10 days in advance, even to travel agents.
thanks all

No, it'll be crazy - you won't get tickets to anywhere.

If you want to be in China to experience CNY pick a place that interests you and stay there for the whole week. The firecracker/lion dance/party atmosphere is worth experiencing but the novelty may ware off after a couple of days unless you're somewhere really interesting!
