Just had a quick question. If you enter Tibet from the east by rail and are travelling through to Nepal (via Zhangmu), if you get by on the train without a permit (success, lol) would there still be difficulty getting to EBC, Tingri etc. region because you don't have the permit 1) for Tibet 2) for that region.
When they ask you for your permit and you reveal you don't have one, I guess theres a long shot to be able to bribe them for the region permit given you dont have one for the TAR.
Was in Tibet about 5 years ago and they were checking the road between Shigatse and Tingri, wondering if they are still tight on that front.
thanks in advance. |

It's okay to arrange a tour to the EBC, etc, even if you don't have the TTP permit. They won't check it, they won't give you any trouble if you don't have the TTP, though some guesthouses may ask you to show them your TTP permit in Lhasa, but it's rare that they will refuse you to stay there. |
