Huangshan & Suzhou in winter??? |
|

Could anyone tell me whether these "scenic areas" are also scenic and worth visiting in winter?
Will I still find them green and beautiful, or will I be looking at frozen trees that have dropped all their leaves under a gray sky?
I'll go to China in January-February no matter what, but have my doubts if it's worth visiting such spots in this period.
I had a great time touring Northern China in winter a few years ago, with summer crowds blissfully absent (had places like Dunhuang for ourselves) and accomodation cheaper than in high season, but deserts and historical sites are much the same no matter what the weather.
Gardens and scenic mountains may just be a different matter - or not?
thanks in advance. |

I'm back from 5 days in Suzhou and found the place quite gray and very cold to walk around during the day. Think it will be much nicer in spring when you can spend some time walking around the gardens and take some time to sit and take it all in.
It was now simply too cold to sit for a long time. My pictures all have this gray hazy glow over them, but maybe when it's a sunny day it's a lot better, I was there and 4 days where cloudy and overcast and the last day it was only raining |
