We're going to be in Bejing at the end of the Chinese new year - does anyone know what kind of celebrations will be going on?
I've heard about the lantern festival (which I think is on the 16th in 2008) but I'm not sure what happens out in the streets etc
If anyone can help, that would be great

Check the listings in the events magazines and newspaper. There is not a huge amount going on in Beijing, but there will typically be lantern displays in some of the parks.
And the lantern festival is in 21st of Feb, is not 16th Feb.
