5days traveling in Shanghai |
|
|
hi all:
I have 5 full days to spend in Shanghai and area. I plan to do the Shanghai Museum, the Huangpu river cruise, the Bund walk, French Concession and Yu Gardens. Also, Soong Ching-lings residence and Shanghai Musuem and Arts and Crafts.
I am an energetic tourist. If I have to choose between Hangzhow and Suzhou as a side trip, which one is recommended?Any comments on itinerary?
thanks a lot: |

hi
Suzhou is a fine town for at least a full day (staying overnight) if you enjoy eastern Asian formal gardens. It is best enjoyed leisurely, sitting and observing, in a relaxed fashion.
Naturally, the town is better enjoyed during temperate weather. I have many fond memories on what I consider some of the finest gardens in the world. (Obviously, since Suzhou is a place to sit and linger, never take a group tour which destroys this concept.)
Hangzhou is an equally good choice. It is a more park-like tourist attraction, featuring West Lake, temples, pagodas, some excellent shopping, native world-famous teas and great food. Both have their virtues. It depends on your tastes. |
