I plan to be in Lhasa late May, and want to walk around Kailash, Mansarovar. I can't find much on March but is the road and route open then? I'd rather just be dropped off and spend longer than the 3 recommended days.

So, how are my chances of getting back to the Friendship Highway by (paid) hitching from Kailash? Will I get lucky within a day or two of trying?

I'm hoping this is a major trucking route where I can at least find a truck to carry me back. Then it's down to Kathmandu. Is it also possible to pay for hitching down the Friendship Highway to Nepal?

Hitchhiking is possible if you don't mind the mode of transportation. But I think you have to make sure about your permit and visa.

Normally they issue visa in a group and guide is compulsary. It will be more complicated if you do it from Nepal. But make sure that you issue seperate visa and it will be easier to stay longer.
