My wife and I were planning to go to Tibet next summer, but we have recently had the wonderful news that she is pregnant and so won't be able to make it (she's due in June).

I'm thinking of heading in on a solo mission during the Chinese New Year Holiday. My question is - Will the weather be so cold as to take away from my enjoyment of the experience?

Should I put the trip on hold for another few years, until our child is old enough to travel and brave the Jiangsu salty oil-soaked gizzards for yet another CNY with the inlaws?

The weather will be cold in most of Tibet, especially the Kham and Amdo regions of Tibet, but don't let that stop you from going. The winter time, especially around, Losar (Tibetan New Year) is one of the best times to be in Lhasa.
