marriage in china |

I have a fiancei who now lives in china. Can we get married if i get a tourist visa, and how much time can it get to registrate our marriage? If i don't have enough time (I mean duration of my tourist visa is not long enough) - can I extend my visa on such a reason? Thank you for the answer. |

he woman I was planning to marry in China had informed me that the paperwork in order to legalize a marriage is a very quick process.
However, she also informed me that now there is a five-year waiting period for those wishing to leave China to live with their foreign spouse.
THAT can be a great inconvenience.
Furthermore, since China is STILL a communist country and communist countries do not look favorably on citizens who try to escape their communist system by cunningly marrying foreigners, it is only logical to expect some type of government interference.
This might take the form of making it rather difficult to travel via cancellations, misleading instructions, or perhaps lack of cooperation or harassment by individuals in key positions instructed to do their patriotic duty in that particular manner. |
