Traveling to China while 2 months pregnant |
|

My wife & I are considering a 2 week trip to Shanghai & Peking but she
has recently found out she is pregnant. At the time we are supposed to
go she will be 2 months pregnant. We haven't bought any tickets or
anything so we can change our plans but we'd really like to go. So far
she is feeling fine (after 1 month) so we think if we take it easy and
try not to do too much it should be OK. These are both big and highly
civilized cities so health care facilities would be available if
needed. I'm curious if anyone else has any experience traveling to
China while pregnant? |

I can't say for sure about China, but my wife and I traveled from SFO to
Jakarta Indonesia when she was about 3 months pregnant. It did not seem
to have a large effect on her or our baby, now almost 4. Obviously she
should have a clean bill of health before you'all travel. Indonesia
would be close to China I would think as far as quality of health
care...so make sure she is cleared by her OB/GYN first. The level of
health care in that part of the world is not up to western standards.
We stayed 3 weeks including a road trip across Java and other than
sleeping and peeing more than normal she held up well. She is from
Indonesia so it wasn't just a tourist trip but visiting family so that
helped her I am sure. By the way, our son was born very normal!
Happy trails. |
