Visa for tour China/Tibet at home or Kathmandu? |
|
|
Hello,
LP Tibet tells that it is nesessary to obtain Chinese Visa at home (I live in Russia), because then if entering through Kathmandu - it will be easyer to obtain a TTB-Permit.
One agency in Kathmandu, which I recently contacted, says, that it is no need to spend money for Chinese Visa in Russia. They will do it completely (Group Visa+Permit) for US43 and one day.
Who can tell me what would be right?!
Thanx in advance, |

You'll be wasting time and money if you arrange the visa from Russia. As far as I know you'll have to give up your Chinese visa to enter Tibet from Nepal. You can only enter and leave Tibet with a group visa arranged from Kathmandu - these visas don't allow alot of time in Tibet. You'll have to apply again for an individual Chinese visa when you leave Tibet - with the group visa - and there's no guarantee that you'll get one. I think the Kathmandu travel agency is talking about the group visa for Tibet and not an actual Chinese visa. I'm travelling China - Tibet - Nepal option because of the difficulties faced with the Tibet visa. If you enter Tibet from China you can stay for as long as your Chinese visa allows. Maybe someone else will fill you in on more details.
Have a great trip |

Hey guys,
I have been dreaming about a trip to Tibet for a while now. I live in China and I suddently have some time off. Although, I am all confuse about the visa, traveling permit and tour group thing!?! I have a chinese working visa. Can I just get a permit and travel on my own, flying in from Chengdu(China) and then cross over to Nepal. After that, I'll fly back to Beijing or to where ever in China. Is it possible? And where do I get information or the paper work in Beijing?
Thanks |
