If I miss the train from Heiku to Kunming, what is the bus like? sleeper? where is the station in Kunming? If I choose not to stay in Kunming at this time, is there a direct bus from Heiku to Dali or Lijiang? Any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks. |

There is no train running at this time. My wife and I took the sleeper bus about 6 months ago. It was a blast. Kunming is a beautiful city and a great palce to linger for a while. The Camillia hotel is a great place to stay at 140RMB per night with breakfast. They have a travel service that will make sleeper reservations for you. Make sure you reserve a berth along the windows at the top for the best experience. The station is on the nasty side but it just adds to the whole surreal experience. You arrive at the border about 7am and must wait until eight to cross the bridge by foot. Make sure your VN visa is effective. |
