Visit Shanghai in few weeks? |

yes visa is required. You may get it easily, just contact the nearest chinese embassy or consulate, fill up a form and bring a passport size photo with you. A chinese tourism visa has a validity of three months and a duration of one month. This means that you have to reach china within 3 months otherwise your visa will expire and you have one month time to visit the country. But you may also renew it if you need. And, I know Shanghai quite well. Remember that Shangahi is quite expensive compared to other cities in China, so it could be more expensive than Thailand. But then it depends on your life style, a western way of life is very expensive, chinese way of life is not. If you find a map of the city look for a guest house called Pujiang near the Huangpu river (city center, around Nanjing lu). It is nice and cheap. A big old American building from the beginning of the last century with a peculiar atmosphere. As for restaurants there's no problem at all if you like chinese food. |
