Converting money to RMB |
|
|
Hi all.
I have been reading all your great tips for 3 months and will be leaving for China on the 16th of March.
I will take some cash (US Dollars) and my ATM card. When I arrive at the Beijing airport what is the best way to get some RMB? I will need a few hundred to start in order to pay for my hotel room and the taxi fare. Is there an ATM at the airport? I could buy some in my USA airport before I leave but would have to pay 4 to 5 percent for the service.
I do not want to use my credit card to pay as Visa and Master Card charge an extra 3% fee for any currency conversion. I consider this policy equal to stealing from me.
Thanks |

We arrived at Beijing Airport at 7.00am and no money exchangers were open, only a couple of shifty operators hanging around that ripped us off excessively (but we had no choice). If you are arriving when these exchanges are open, we saw their rates were quite good (after 10.00am I think it was). There is an ATM at the airport, but my partner couldn't remember his code. |
