Am leaving for China in just over two weeks. Whilst I'm pretty prepared in the way of shots and sorting out money, I haven't planned where to go after I fly into Beijing. Reading Let's Go China, they keep recommending that you book bed in hostels in advance. I've never done that before, and usually just appeared at places without reservations. Does anyone else do this in China? All I know is that I'll end up in Vietnam about 7 weeks after I get to Beijing ready to do SE Asia. Reckon I'll be a light-weight and stick quite far East.
I was getting worried about my lack of planning (ie itinery), but am now thinking about 'going with the flow' and getting tips on where to go when I am there. That's the best way, isn't it?
