I live in China and am travelling to Beijing -Xian - Shanghai in April and wondered if anyone had discovered any great places to stay in any of these places. I quite like the interesting Chinese hotels and backpackers. Any ideas/ websites or contacts are appreciated. |

Beijing: Stay at the Peking Downtown Backpackers Accomodation!  I was there for 5 days in January and was sorry to leave. You'll regret it if you don't stay there, I tell you...
Shanghai: Try the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Guesthouse, I've been staying here for >1.5 years now. There're plenty of backpackers and other travellers around for you to make friends with.
