China/Tibet Domestic Flights |
|
|
I am planning a trip to China/Tibet for my wife and I and teenage son for end of March/ April. I have found that I can purchase discounted domestic airfares on Air China if I purchase through a US based travel agent along with our transcontinental flights (Xian-Guilin $70 US, Guilin-Shanghai $82 US), but not for the Beijing-Lhasa and Lhasa-Xian legs of our trips (full fare Beijing-Lhasa $300 US, Lhasa-Xian $269).
Our travel dates are not flexible.
Will it be too risky to wait and purchase discount tickets in Beijing? We will need to fly Beijing-Lhasa on 3/29, 3 days after arriving in Beijing, and Lhasa-Xian a week later.
Any ideas for purchasing discounted tickets before leaving Los Angeles?
Thanks for any replies. |

There is no straight flight from Beijing to Lhasa, you have to fly Beijing-Chengdu and Chengdu-Lhasa. From what I knwo and remember you can get the permit only in Chengdu. If you stop over for a day it should be fine that's enough time to get the permit and it is not high season so you should be able to fly out to Lhasa in a day or 2 max. |
