China travel -help |

Ill be in Asia for about 6 weeks this summer with my wife and 3 year old son, specifically june into mid July. We will be in Thailand checking out an adoption agency (we are in the process of adopting internationally, either from India or Thailand) and would like to either go to India for 3 weeks or to southwest/east China for those 3 weeks. Which WOULD YOU DO ?
southwest/east China- from HK to Guilin, Dali,Litang, up into Sichuan, Songpan, maybe bit of Kham ?
We will be on about a $40 to $ 50 US a day budget total. Would China be a better option ?
We like hiking, museums, cultural stuff, good food, great scenery, etc with a few days in big cities in between the countryside, travelling with just a pack
NO tour groups but willing to do day tours to some sites |

it is quick & easy to get visas for PRC. Guilin, Dali, LiJiang, Kunming are tourist friendly and the cultures are v/interesting as you meet several minority groups. It's inexpensive and fun |
