drive trip from Chengdu to Lhasa, how long? |

Hi,
Is it possible to drive to Lhasa from Chengdu? How long would it take? We have been advised that this is the best way to avoid altitude sickness but it's have to find info.

There is a highway, but it's very treacherous, mostly unpaved, and landslides are very common - which can block the highway for weeks at a time. And even at the best condition, it'll take several days, and facilities/hotels are very poor.
It's a trip for the really adventurous or for the National Geographic film crew. |
