"I
got to the summit at 17:15 pm in a blinding white out. There was no
one else there and the last climber I saw was at 7300m (Sergey from
Russia). On the way back I was guided by my E-trax Summit GPS all
the way to C3(6980m). Nex day I got down to base camp after a second
sleepless night at C3. My fellows climbers Eric and Martin had to
turn back at 7300m because of the cold. I wish they were with me on
the summit. Better luck next time guys! "

"All
9 members of our summit team reached the top on August 3rd & 4th
2001 - 5 French, 3 Russians and myself (British expatriate living
in Japan). Weather was generally fairly good during our 2 1/2 weeks
on the mountain, but the summit day - which had begun with cloudless
skies - saw a whiteout spring up as we climbed the final slopes, so
no views from the top. Straightforward ascent, but low temperatures,
high winds and general unpredictability of conditions indicate not
to be taken lightly. Two days of fine weather camped by the Karakul
Lake with superb views of the mountain after the climb were a fitting
reward for our efforts!"

"Late
update on the world record attempt; we did it! We went to 7,008m with
our bikes and cycled near the little grey Slovenian tent for a silly
10 meters. Now we are waiting for Guiness to certify the record. We
didn't go to the tope because we were tired of seeing the same valley
all the time, and of aching shoulders because of the extra and unstable
weight of the bikes. If there is a next time we'll have better mental
preparation and will go for the top. Mountainzone.com has published
our story of the trip, feel free to check it out:
Have a happy holiday season!
Siegfried."

"In 1994 I biked from Pakistan to China
and came past Mustagh Ata. I then decided that one day I wanted to
climb this beautiful mountain. In June 2000 I was ready to execute
this longstanding desire when I joined a team led by Daniel Mazur.
I had never in my life climbed a mountain before so everybody in basecamp
was quite surprised to hear that I was planning to go all the way
to the summit (some people could hardly conceal their disapproval).
I was the weakest person on my team, but all other team members were
ready to help me with their expertise (I did not even no what a "figure-eight"
was). It took me 19 days on snow shoes before i was ready for a summit
attempt from our camp III at 6800 mtrs. Under a clear blue sky it
took me almost ten hours to reach the summit at 17.30 hrs on June
27th, 2000. I summited together with daniel Mazur and a Swiss client
called walter freiner. All I want to say is: this mountain can be
done by a beginner provided that are in a team of strong and sympathetic
climbers who are willing to help you out. it was a great way to get
a taste of the thin air.

"On the 10th day since reaching Base Camp,
I reached the top around 11 a.m. after a long climb in one go from
Camp-II. What an experience to ski up in full moon and watch the day
come slowly! I was alone on the top and had perfect weather all around
me. Beautiful view. I could only read about 7300 meters, which seems
to be more accurate than the 7546 given on Chinese maps. After a while
the Slovenian team leader who started from Camp-III joined me. The
rest of the "Horizons Nouveaux" expedition summited a few day later.
We where one of the rare expeditions with 100% success."

"Le
terrain semble facile.
ata. Tres a pic, beaucoup plus montagneux Mon premier 7000. Sommet
atteint 14 jours aprÀs l'arrivee au camp de base. Exp»dition
organized by Daniel Mazur ( US ). 19 people in it, 11 summiters :
2 sherpas, 2 frenchs, 2 canadians, 5 americans. To the top, 14 days
after arriving to the base camp."
