As the capital of Fujian, you can find almost anything produced within the province here. Ingenious local folks turns out many handicrafts, such as Shoushan stone carvings, jade carvings, ivory carvings (conservationists beware) and lacquerware. The Fuzhou Shoushan Stone Carving Factory on Liuyi zhonglu sells most of these products.
The fertile land and mild temperature here also contribute to the growth of many fruits, most famously, longan, litchi and olives. The local markets are usually full of this fruit.
Long a commercial center in southeast China, Fuzhou boasts diverse shopping venues. There are tourist souvenirs on Wusi Jie, and trinket vendors on Taijiang Lu. If you are horticulture fan or have not too strong an interest in pet animals, Dongjiekou Pet and Plant Market is a place not to miss.
