Tianjin Hotel Information
For those that can afford it Tianjin is full of decent accommodation, most of it clean and normally sponsored by foreign companies or run as a joint venture. Tianjin can, however, be a frustrating and troublesome city for those who are watching their budget, since not only are there very few low price hotels, but also many of these are not licensed at the Public Security Bureau for having foreign guests. This is possibly why the city is flooded on weekends with daytrippers from Beijing after a quick bargain hunt.
When selecting a hotel your best bet is to chose one somewhere near the central sights, including the old concessionary quarter. Anything on the western bank of the Hai River is worthwhile, since this will put you in good stead for visiting the sights, although being a little far from the transport routes.
The best top end hotels here would have to be the Hyatt or the Sheraton, both luxurious, with the Hyatt coming out slightly better on location, central and bordering the Hai River. The Crystal Palace Hotel runs a close second to these two however, with good views and probably the best food of the Tianjin hotels.
Of the lower end hotels the Caesar Palace Hotel offers the best location, but little resemblance to the Casino of the same name, while the Tianjin Imperial Palace Hotel has nice architecture and a bit of history. For pure price the Friend Hotel is your best friend. |
