Xinjiang Urumqi Old City Wulanbay and the Ancient Graves: The old city Wulanbay situated approximately 10 kilometers away from the south urban district of Urumqi. It is a big testimony for the ancient history of Urumqi. It was discovered as the earlist and completest ancient city, and reached about at least a thousand years’ history.The old city has a large scale and its imposing manner is uncommon. The complete one is similar with the unearthed bronze mirror in Yili River. The broken one is possible Chinese type mirror from inland.These phenomena indicated that 2000 years ago, Urumqi inland, and Yili, have had firmly relation in economic and culture.
The discovery of Wulanbay and the ancient grave groups has brought the history of Urumqi suburb area to 2000 years ago. Which has provided brand-new witness to the social economy condition and ideology, and it is also an important reference for the studies of Xin Jiang. |
