The Yunnan Nationalities Village (Yunnan Minzucun )Yunnan is one of the most important birthplaces of
mankind ' and has a very long history and an ancient civilization. The creators of this ancient land--Yunnan--are not anyothers but the 26 nationalities who have been living on this land. There are altogether 56 nationalites in China, 25 ethnicminorities are living in Yunnan Province. Yunnan is the only province in China where there are so many nationalities. The population of ethnic minorities covers a third of the population
in Yunnan. If you want to have a general idea of the 25 ethnic minorities in Yunnan, it is not practical to travel around all the 25 areas. So in 1992 we began to build the "Yunnan Nationalites Village". The visitors just come here once, they will have a general idea of the main nationalities in Yunnan. They needn't travel around all the areas. We can say "they kill several birds with: one stone". The Yunnan Nationalities Vil-
lage is now an important resort in kunming, the capital city of Yunnan. Since its opening the Yunnan Nationalities' Village has received several millions of visitors from 30' different countries and districts. The Yunnan Nationalities Village is located on the lakeshore of Dianchi Lake the Bright Pearl' on the Platesu
in the south Of Kunming and occupies 1250 mu (about 83hectares). It's main gate faces the' historical and cultural City-Kunming, to the back of it lies' the Bright Pearl on the Bateau' Dianchi Lake, with the Kunming Western Hills Scenic Spotstandin opposite, to the right of it exists the largest and *be'St inat]onatIues museum', "the'Yunn/m Nation alites Museum , to the left frohtis an area for the c0nvales:

In additon to them there are the White Elephants Welcoming Guests, the Dinosaur Island, the Garden of Lake Scenery, etc, where you can enjoy yourselves. In the Nation-ality Song and Dance Hall you can watch the song and dance
performances given by different nationalities. At the PlaTa of Unity of Nationalites, in fact it is something like an arena the-atre, you can watch not only the song and dance performances of the nationalities, quite different from those you watch in the Nationality Song and Dance Hall, but also the Asian Elephants Show. You can't always have a chance to watch these two kinds of shows. In the evening the Water-Screen Film will surely make you forget to go back.

In these 9 finished villages the performers and workers are chosen from the youths of the relevant nationalities. Entering these villages is :just: like arriving at the areas where these nationalities ..... live. Y ou can know ,many things about these nationalities. But in these 9 villages ,tle typical ones are the
Dai Nationality Village, the Bai NatiOnality Village and the Yi Nationality Village. Today we mainly visit these 3 villages and on the way to them we can also visit some other spots.
