Daguan Park located on the edge of Dianchi Lake in the western part of Kunming, is a small and beautiful park. It isits natural scenery and classical garden architecture that makeit well-known in China.
Inside the park, lakes, fish, sea-gulls flowers trees willow banks arch bridges rockworks corridors pavilions
and terraces form a piece of marvellous land. Among thesewonders, Daguan Pavilion is the one worth mentioning, not
only for its magnificent classical structure, but also for itsLong Couplet, which is praised by scholars and prominent fig-ures as "the number one Long Couplet both in ancient and inmodem times". It is the Long Couplet that makes DaguanPavilion very famous across the whole country. Walking in thepark, you'll become intoxicated and completely relaxed.Outside the park, a vast expanse of misty water withfishing boats accompanied by water birds stretches far into thedistance, where the profile of the Western Hills is dearly visi-ble. It is a landscape of Dianchi Lake and the Western Hills,full of poetic and artistic feeling. My friends here we are at Daguan Pavilion. ....
Daguan Pavilion was first set up in 1696 .in the. qing Dy-nasty'.' At that time, qian Yin, a Buddhist monk built a cot
tage here to expound the texts of his religion! Several yearslater, Wang Jiehang, grand cordinator of Yunnan, advocatedbufidtrigthe cottage into daguan Pavilion: In its history, thepavilion was once burnt as a result of warfare. Then it was re-bnilt and until n6w it has been renovated several times.Daguan PaVilion is a three-storied wooden building; It isa typical ancient: Chinese constraetioti'. The Long Couplet,written by Sun Ranweng, a poor scholar in the Qing Dynasty,has  a total of 180 Chinese characters. The first line on theright side describes the scenery of Dianchi Lake. The secondline on the left side tells the history of Yunnan. The couplet isvery well organized. The words are carefully chosen. The lan-guage is beautiful and elegant. The right and the left have abilateral symmetry with its contents echoing each other, making it an integral whole. In fact, you will surely acclaim it asthe acme of perfection. Thus it is generally regarded as "thenumber one kong Couplet both in ancient and in modem times".Inside the pavilion on the third floor, looking into thedistance, you will have a panoramic view of Dianchi Lake andthe Western Hills. At this moment you will be very excitedand enjoy yourself in the atmosphere ,of natural landscape andforget to go back home.

piece byMr, GuoMorou, late well-known writer, poet ,andsocial,activist, When he stepped up to the pavilion,ia 1961,
looking into the distant landscape,Mr.guo Morou composedthe spontaneous poem.
