Yu Hill, opposite Wu Shan, is located in the center of the city of Fuzhou, just behind the large statue of Mao Zedong on Wuyi Square (Wuyi guangchang), and to the west of the Yushan Hall. Looked at from below, it resembles a huge turtle. It got its name because the Yu tribe once dwelled on the hill, during the Warring States Period some 2500 years ago. Although the hill is only 58.6m high and covers a total area of 11.9 hectares, there are still many sights worth visiting, including the Wanxiang Pavilion, Qigong Ancestral Temple, Pingyuan Terrace, Jiuxian Cave and Zhuangyuan Peak.

This is a fairly popular tourist area, considered the cultural heart of Fuzhou, and so is often packed with visitors. The White Pagoda is worth a look, as are the nearby exhibition of a Song Dynasty

How to get Yu Hill : Conveniently located in the city center, it is easily accessible by taking a minibus for RMB3.
